Pro qm is a thematic bookstore founded in 1999by 3 artists/architects/art-theorists, now activating in a late 1920s building originally designed by the office of modernist architect Hans Poelzigin Berlin-Mitte. The thematic emphasis is on the city and its links to politics, pop, economic critique, architecture, design, art and the bordering theories.Pro qm was awarded the Form Award for Best Design Bookstore in 2006 andthe official bookstore of the Documenta 12 in 2007.The project is interdisciplinary and consists, next to the bookshop, of frequent events at the location (with Thomas Meinecke, Bernhard Willhelm, Heinz Emigholz, Jutta Koether, Mark E. Smith, Michael Clark, and Bruce LaBruce, among others) and contributions to exhibitions and conferences. Photos©Katja Eydel
